HERSHEY, PA RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

It is amazing how very little work we have done to get the word out on "Kathryn's Gift" and yet it seems to be taking on a life of its own. People are hearing about it and taking action to help Kathryn in her mission.

Mark your calendars for a BIG opportunity coming up on CNN on Christmas day at 1pm and the following day (12/26) at 3pm. The folks from the Baltimore Ronald McDonald House scheduled a visit from CNN to interview Kathryn on her foundation. They are airing a segment on giving during the holidays and were moved by her story.

We are well on our way to putting one air purifier in every room at the Hershey, PA Ronald McDonald House. We only need 10 more purifiers, or $450 dollars and we'll be putting in an order to Secure Air.

CDIA Student Practicum - Kathryn's Gift

Wow, I was truly blown away with the video documentary produced by the students here at cdia. They have a requirement to work with a non-profit to produce a video for their graduation requirements. When they asked if they could do their piece on Kathryn, I was honored and apprehensive at the same time. I didn't want to take advantage of their talent, but after hearing about her story, they felt compelled to help get her story out to the world.

I must admit that I was a bit skeptical that the students would be able to capture the emotion of our journey. Was I wrong! In the end, they not only captured it, they knocked it out of the park. I am so grateful for their hard work and passion in connecting with her story. I am also grateful to Marianne Rowan-Braun, Tom Novicki and Nancy Robey who took time out of their own lives to be a part of Kathryn's story. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Kathryn on local TV for her Make-A-Wish Pool

The news anchor mentions the launch of Kathryn's Gift at the end of this report.

Springfield, MA & Hershey, PA Houses next

Hi all:

We are moving on to the next couple of Ronald McDonald Houses. I spoke with Hershey, PA and Springfield, MA and both of them were extremely excited with the idea of getting air purifiers in their rooms.

The Hershey House currently has 15 rooms but is going through a renovation and will eventually have 35 rooms. The director of the Springfield, MA House is on vacation this week and will be getting back to me about the number but if my memory serves me correctly, they have around 25 rooms.

So here is our goal: 50 purifiers at $45 each = $2,250.

Local News Story

What a fantastic couple of weeks for Kathryn's Gift. Our local news affiliate was at our house on Friday July 10th, 2009 to capture the Make-A-Wish gift of a pool in our back yard. It was during this news report that we launched Kathryn's Gift. It can be seen at:

Then soon after, we received a call from the local paper wanting to do a story about her experience with Aplastic Anemia. The article can be seen online at:
